Eagle Factor: Success! (By: Brian Portner)

R.E. Mountain’s second annual evening talent show, this year dubbed “Eagle Factor”, was a fantastic success.  The show took place on Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 pm.  The acts included three singing performances – one a cappella, one to music, and one with guitar accompaniment. Audience members were also treated to a drum solo and to a unique four-person dance-comedy routine.

All acts did a phenomenal job and each received comments and appraisal from the panel of three student judges.  This was the first time that talent show judges have provided comments and feedback to contestants during the actual show, mirroring an American Idol or America’s Got Talent format.

Admission to the show this year was by donation and turnout was great.  A concession was also run selling chips, chocolate bars, and beverages. All profits collected by the Student Council will be donated to the Kindlers Society. The Kindlers Society is an extremely worthwhile not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to building libraries for schools in developing countries.

The Student Council worked extremely hard and diligently in order to put this show together. Members helped create and hang up large advertising posters prior to the event, carried out multiple backstage duties (including lighting, sound, and act organization), ran concession, and handed out door prize tickets to guests upon entrance. The show would not have been possible without the help of these dedicated members as well as Student Council’s incredible sponsor teacher, Ms. Bakker.

Leading up to the announcement of the talent show winner, a door prize ticket was drawn and one lucky audience member won a Starbucks gift card. After the judges’ scores were tallied, the winner of the Eagle Factor was announced to be the comedy-dance group, DTMC. The group also received a Starbucks gift card. All acts performed very well and should be congratulated on their bravery and their talents.
