One of the many upcoming festivities for the new occupants of our school is the Grade 8 Takeover. It is scheduled to take place on October 24th from 4 to 11pm.

This zestful event has taken place annually, and the Grade 9s now disclose that it was a surely memorable event, with lots of merriment and amusing festivities. Some of the pleasurable activities included Capture the Flag, relay races, and of course, the consumption of the delectable nourishment provided - pizza.

“It was fun. I really liked the pizza they had there.” - Amanda, Grade 9

However, not all the events required students to participate in just one activity. The variety and diversity of activities given during a certain time ensured fun for the students. Students were deliberately given a choice of what they preferred to do, instead of being forced to do something that they disliked.

The Takeover was really fun last year. I liked the part where we got free time to do whatever we wanted, like some people could watch a movie. There was the game room, which was very fun, and much more.” - Rachel, Grade 9

Many of our Grade 9s truly found the Takeover to be an exceptional experience, and many look forward to the opportunity to volunteer in the future at this exciting event.

The Takeover will surely be meaningful to the Grade 9s in the future when they reminisce on their past in Grade 8.

It is also the ultimate opportunity to make new friends, to know students of the higher grade level, and to relieve stress. The Takeover also provides entertainment, a social gathering place, and an excellent meal.

I’m looking forward to the food.” - Anthony and Edward, Grade 8

The Grade 8s are very content to participate in the enticing ceremony this year. Many, if not most, are planning to engage in this event.

I am really excited for the Takeover this year.” - Joanne, Grade 8

For me personally, I think it was an experience like no other.  The Takeover was a festivity full of entertainment and joviality, and allowed more intercommunication between strangers. We were separated in groups, and I got to meet and experience collaborating with unknown people.  Other also felt the same.

I really like how we got to play games and interact with new people that we hadn’t met before.” - Andrea, Grade 9

My team leaders were encouraging and helpful, so I got to know them better as well. It was really great for developing oral communication skills and encouraging teamwork.

The Takeover is a school event that you cannot miss out on.
